About the Author
The author has accumulated 25 years of breeding experience with a wide variety of estridid finches, including amandavas, firefinches, waxbills, cordon-bleus, twinspots,
pytilias, seedcrackers, Australian finches and several munia species. For many years, he has been a strong advocate of parent-rearing in the breeding of estridid finches.
The results thus obtained have been published in many breeding reports. In addition, he has published dozens of other papers in various club bulletins. He is an active
member of several breeders’ associations and served for many years on the Committee of the Dutch Society of Breeders of African Estrildid Finches.
This book has been written by an experienced breeder for breeders. A justified handbook has been accomplished with indications of a bird feeding expert, a biologist and
a bird veterinary surgeon. Everything there is to know about keeping Estrildid Finches is mentioned in this book. The text is supported by approximately 120 full colour
photographs. Most of them were made in the birdroom of the author.
